Travel Journalling - Conclusion

Travel Journalling Adventures: The Final Chapter

Less than 2 weeks since my holiday and my travel journal is now complete. It didn’t take a lot of time to finish it because most of my entries were don’t whilst we were travelling. I just needed to add some finishing touches. So, now, as I sit down to write this blog post, a sense of nostalgia washes over me. Our incredible journey has come to an end, and with it, the final page of my travel journal has been filled. I’ve laughed, explored, created, and now it's time to reflect on the beautiful pages of memories I have collected along the way.

Part 1: "The Power of Travel Journalling" In my first blog post, I discussed the importance of documenting our adventures. I reminisced about the days when I used to return from a trip, only to discover that some memories had faded, and key details were lost. I vowed to change that by preparing a travel journal before our journey even began. This was the start of something beautiful.

Part 2: "Creating on the Go" In the second instalment, I shared my secrets for packing and organizing my creative tools. I delved into the essentials, from sketching basics to a splash of colour. I discussed the magic of a portable photo printer and how it can change the game for journalling. With a dash of creativity and careful packing, you can be well-prepared for your artistic escapades.

Part 3: "Artistic Journalling and Scrapbooking" The third post took us on a creative journey, exploring the world of artistic journalling and scrapbooking. I discovered how art can add depth and emotion to the journal's pages, making them come alive. I learned that art isn't about being a professional; it's about capturing the essence of a moment.

Part 4: "Crafting a Unique Travel Journal" In this post I embarked on a journey to craft a truly personalised travel journal. I discussed binding methods, journal size, page size, and the power of colours. I offered tips for creating a handmade journal and shared essential supplies to make it your own.

Part 5: "Prompts and Ideas for Your Travel Journal" In our final pre-trip post, I provided a list of prompts and ideas to kickstart your creative journey. From cover pages to reflections, I offered suggestions for capturing the essence of your travels through words and art. I encouraged you to embrace your unique creativity.

Conclusion: And now, as my trip comes to an end and my journal is complete, I find myself looking back on the incredible adventure I've had. I've explored, sketched, painted, and written my way through each day, making memories that will last a lifetime.

Now, as you embark on your own travel adventures and create your travel journal, remember that it's more than just a diary; it's a piece of art that encapsulates your unique experiences. It's a treasure trove of moments, emotions, and stories that will resonate in your heart for years to come.

So, whether you're preparing for your next journey or reflecting on your past travels, let your travel journal be a testament to the beauty of exploration and the power of creativity. Your adventures are a canvas waiting to be painted with the colours of your memories, so go forth and craft your own travel journal, one page at a time.

The Power of Recording Memories

On our last trip to Tassie to visit my sister I just sketched. We have been there so many times that we didn’t do any sightseeing this time and just hung around her property relaxing. It was nice sitting there on her deck and relaxing with a glass of wine, pencil in hand and my sketchbook ready to sketch the surrounding views. In just under 4 weeks, we are off on a family holiday to Queenstown, New Zealand. We are going with my son, his wife and our 2 grandchildren. This will be the grandkids first time in the snow, so we are really looking forward to it. It will be my first time in New Zealand so that is also exciting. New Zealand is such a beautiful place I just know I will be taking hundreds of photos. I also am really looking forward to sketching my own interpretation of these scenes. Unlike most other people, over the last couple of months I haven’t been planning what clothes to take or what must see tourist attractions to visit …. I have been planning and creating my travel journal and deciding what supplies to take. At this point in time, I have my journal and supplies all packed and ready to go. But I haven’t got one item of clothing organised. LOL I have spent weeks “auditioning” which of my watercolour paints to take. (At one point my hubby asked me if there was a prize for the supplies that won because I had literally spent hours swatching out colours and deciding which best suited the “theme” of our destination – cheeky bugger.) I didn’t want to take my entire range of watercolours as that only adds to the procrastination of creating art – do I use ultramarine blue or cobalt blue…. which shade of green should this be…. should I use burnt umber or burnt sienna? If you have limited supplies, you make do with what you have and just go for it. Well, that is what I have found over the years anyway. I have hand-made my travel journal using my favourite size format for creating on the go. It has a mixture of scrapbooking papers (for photos) and good quality watercolour paper for creating art. I will go into more detail on creating my travel journal and the final selection of supplies to take in my next post. But for now, here is a picture of the first page of my travel journal and some of the “winning” supplies. It’s nice to not have a completely blank journal to dive into when travelling. My next job is to pack all these so they are as portable as possible… Ensure that you register on my website or follow me on Facebook to stay updated on the real-time creation of my travel journal.
